On the 25th April, 2013, the service to Commemorative the Australian and New Zealand Army Corp, and specifically the Battle of Gallipoli, was held at the Canadian War Museum with an attendance of over 250. Present were dignitaries from Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Turkey as well as other countries.
The Service does not commemorate the battle, because it was a defeat, but rather commemorates the great sacrifice of men on both sides. For Australia and New Zealand, Gallipoli holds a place in their hearts as Vimy does for Canadians and is considered one of the defining moments for both countries.
