Sunday afternoon saw Parliament Hill host the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain ceremony repleat with veterans, vintage aircraft, and fly-pasts. In attendance was the Governor-General, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, the British High Commissioner to Canada and a host of other dignataries. Singing the Canadian national anthem was internationally renowned signer and the Honourary Colonel of the RCAF, HCol. Loreena McKennitt.
It was a beautiful day on Parliament Hill with music supplied by the Central Band of the Canadian Armed Forces as well as the RCAF Pipes and Drums, who piped the veterans up the central walkway past the eternal flame.
Speeches were presented, wreaths were laid, comrades remembered, punctuated by a flypast of vintage WWII aircraft and those in the RCAF current inventory.
