On Saturday a hockey game, hosted by the Korean Embassy and played in the Canadian Tire Centre, pitted the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) against the Royal 22e Regiment (Vandoos) in a commemoration of hockey games played by Canadian troops on the frozen Imjin River in Korea during the Korean War. It also celebrated the special friendship that now exists between the Republic of Korea and Canada. Of special note this year were the attendance of three Korean veterans who played in the original Imjin Hockey game in 1952: Dennis Moore, Claude Chartrand and John Leroux.
The match was contested over two periods with the the Royal 22e Regiment emerging victorious, 9 to 3.
