On 10 Sept., 1939, Canada officially entered the Second World War and to mark the occasion of the 75th anniversary of that event, a ceremony was held at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum where specially minted commemorative lapel pins were presented to 13 World War II veterans by His Excellency, the Governor-General, David Johnston. MP Pierre Poilievre also presented the veterans with certificates of recognition for their service and sacrifice.
