Today started off Remembrance Week with the Ceremony of Remembrance held in the Senate Chamber of the Parliament of Canada. New this year is the monument in front of which the wreath will be laid. In the past, it has been a replica of the St. Julien Memorial but this year is a headstone of an Unknown Soldier from World War II. The wreath was laid by the Minister of Veterans Affairs, the Honourable Julian Fantino, Senator, The Honourable Joseph Day (representing the Speaker of the Senate), and MP Mr. Barry Devolin (representing the Speaker of the House of Commons).
Although the Remembrance Ceremony is broad in its’ scope, special mention was made of the two soldiers killed this past week.
