On Sunday, 6th December, the National Military Cemetery, part of Beechwood Cemetery, hosted the 5th Annual Wreaths Across Canada, where 3400 wreaths were placed at the headstones of deceased military members. CDS Gen Jonathon Vance represented the military and representation was strong for the Cadet organizations and diplomatic corps with music provided by the Military Wives Choir. A poem titled ‘Honour” was read by Kathleen Mills and Viet Nguyen (apologies for spelling if incorrect). It was a perfect day for the event, being quite warm, but I feel the event looks much better with snow.
This was the first year the event had taken place at the National Military Cemetery Section at Beechwood as the previous 4 years had been held in the older Veterans Section.
