Today was the day the media was to show up at Vintage Wings of Canada (VWoC) to get all excited for the airshow for the 15th & 16th of September where VWoC would have their own aircraft flying and on display as well as play host to a number of other aircraft including the Snowbirds. The day was cool and cloudy and rained a bit so was not the best day to show off for the upcoming performance. Having said that, it was not a bad day to just watch some vintage aircraft, aerobatic aircraft, and a couple of jets, and talk to some people I haven’t seen in a year.
The day started with some aircraft flying in for the show such as the Lancaster and B-25 Mitchell bombers, a Canso, a T-28B and a few others. It was good to get back into the grove of shooting the aircraft and the peculiarities of trying to get the spinning propeller in your shots. While I did get damp taking some of the pictures and eventually retreated into a tent and then a hanger, some good shots were taken. After a bit of lunch and a letup in the weather, I was treated to the P-40 Kittyhawk practicing his routine for tomorrow and then the CF-18 as well. I could have stayed for more but the afternoon was drawing to a close, the weather was closing in (rain all evening) and I wanted to beat the Friday afternoon rush hour home.
